Because dance is for everyone
In my dance, I seek to return to the roots of dance. Dance is for expressing joy and sorrow, for community and resistance, and for expressing our authentic selves. When we center these roots, dance is truly suited to everyone.
A lot of people feel like they can’t dance because they think it must look a certain way or fit into certain expectations but, let me break it to you: you can dance. Whether you feel like you have trouble staying on beat, remembering moves, making the moves look like other people do, or you want to play with the roles in dance beyond “leader” and “follower,” you can dance.
Dance isn’t about fitting expectations of what dance “should” look like. Dance is about truly and deeply being yourself and connecting with community through movement.
I help people do this by listening to and working with their needs and desires for dance. This often means making dance more accessible and more queer.
